The newsletter is sent out every Saturday at 9 AM to the email we have on file. Please make sure your email is up to date to receive the latest information. If you don’t receive it, the newsletter is also available on our school website’s live feed.
On Monday, August 18, all Rapid City Area Schools buildings will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. for our annual District Opener event. This is a special tradition where all RCAS staff gather to celebrate the start of the new school year and align for success. We appreciate your understanding as we take this time to connect, inspire, and ring in the new year together.
We’re excited to welcome ALL of our 6th–8th grade students and families to Open House on Wednesday, August 13th from 4:00–6:00 PM!
Come meet your teachers, walk your schedule, drop off school supplies in your lockers, and get ready for an amazing year ahead.

📣 Calling all incoming 6th grade families and NEW to East families! 📣
We’re excited to welcome our newest Raptors to East Middle School! Join us for 6th Grade Orientation and NEW to East on Monday, August 11th from 8:00–9:30 AM. This event is just for our 6th grade students and NEW to East and their families as they begin their middle school journey.
You'll rotate through three quick sessions to learn about:
🔹 Skyward Family Access, Communication, & Canvas
🔹 How to open lockers and navigate around the POD
🔹 Middle School Activities & Student Handbooks
After the sessions, you'll have time to ask questions, explore the building, and connect with staff. Extra-curricular sign-ups will also be available during this time!
